How to View Kraken Transaction History for your Gilded account

What are Kraken API permissions and why are they necessary?

Kraken allows 3rd party services and applications to integrate with their platform for a variety of purposes. The 3rd party (in this case Gilded) can integrate only through API permissions. Without these permissions, Gilded cannot access the transaction information necessary to perform their accounting solutions. The account owner must configure their API key and then provide that information to Gilded.

What information does Gilded have access to once granted API permissions?

Gilded treats security and privacy as the utmost priority, and subsequently has read only access to your information. This access allows us to view the relevant transaction and account data for your crypto accounting needs. We will not ask for any extra permissions outside of our read only policy. Gilded can not execute transactions on your behalf and does not have access to your funds.

Creating an API Key in Kraken

  1. Click on your name in the upper right corner of the page

  2. Click on "Security" and then "API"

  3. Click on the "Add Key" button. This will allow you to then configure the API Key specifications for your Gilded account.

Configuring your API Key for Gilded

In order for Gilded to properly retrieve the correct information from your account, carefully take note of the following requirements when configuring your key permissions:

  • In the Funds category, select the "Query Funds" and "Deposit Funds" boxes only

  • In the Order and Trades category, select the "Query Open Orders & Trades" and "Query Closed Orders & Trades" boxes only

  • In the Other category, select the "Query Ledger Entries" and "Export Data" boxes only

(Your Add API Key selections should look like the sample below.)

  • The "Key description" field will automatically generate a title for you. This is nothing more than a name that you give to the API permissions. You can include the name "Gilded API" to help with labeling and organization.

  • After making sure you have selected the correct boxes, click the "Generate Key" button. A series of keys will generate and appear on the page. Make sure to copy and save these keys in a safe place, as they cannot be generated again.

  • Click "Save."

NOTE: If you do not save, your key will not be valid.

Adding Your Kraken API Keys Into Gilded

The final step of the process is to add your generated API Keys from Kraken into your Gilded account.

  • Log into Gilded and navigate to the Accounts page

  • Click the "+ Add Account" icon in the top right corner of the page

  • Choose "Connect Custodian" in the account selection box

  • Select Kraken from the drop-down menu

  • Enter in the generated Kraken API keys in the appropriate fields and click "Save"

  • Gilded will notify you when your Kraken account has been connected. Refresh the Accounts page to see your newly added Kraken account.

Gilded will begin showing all of your Kraken transactions in the Activity page shortly after connecting. This process may take time as Gilded extracts data from the blockchain. Once your Kraken transactions have been fully imported, they will have full accounting functionality. You can view and edit your accounts/wallets at any time in the Accounts page.
